Making Your Own Homer Mask
If you prefer to make your own Homer mask just for the fun of it, here are all the necessary materials and steps you need to follow to make that cool and funny mask:
What You'll Need:
- Yellow wig/temporary hair spray
- Yellow and brown face paint
- A pillow or thick foam square (think large bolster)
- White shirt
- Safety pins
- Blue pants
- Brown lace up shoes
- White paper
- Red and black markers
- Beverage can
- Toy donut
- String
Step 1: For this, you can either just buy a Homer mask, or if you cannot find one just slick your hair back with styling gel and cover the entire area with the yellow temporary hair spray.
Step 2: Apply the brown face paint around your mouth and chin to give homers typical 5 o'clock shadow effect, then cover the rest of your face and neck with the yellow face paint.
Step 3: Stuff a pillow inside a white short sleeved shirt and use safety pins to hold it in place. We all know how big homers belly is, so go as big as you want. Or you can take a large piece of foam and cut it out into the desired shape, using layers to make your stomache bigger.
Step 4: Find some light blue cotton trousers to wear and finish the main part of the costume with some brown lace-up shoes.
Step 5: A Duff Beer is essential. You can either find the label for it online and then paste it to a can, or you can make your own by cutting out a white piece of construction paper, then using black and red markers to design the Duff Beer label.
Step 6: Insert a chain or string through a toy donut and wear either around your neck or attached onto your belt loop. I say a plastic donut because although you could use a real donut, that might be a bit messy. Periodically quote Homer by saying "Donuts, is there anything they can't do?"
